I try to write something for the blog mid-week but preparation for Hurricane Harvey dominated my week. As I write this Saturday morning, it is looking more and more like we've dodged a few bullets here southeast of Houston. You can see in the accompanying photo that there's a bit of water in the street. The rain isn't over, not by a long shot, but we're getting breaks. So far, the lulls have allowed the street to clear between fill-ups. The water level hasn't risen past the curb yet.
We've been fortunate. Others haven't been. If you're able to help, please donate to the Red Cross.
The newest projections have Harvey sharply and quickly weakening today and tomorrow. It should turn north, but the storm could still go sideways—literally and figuratively. We're not out of the woods yet.
